band on field

This past Saturday, the Indian Land High School Warrior Marching Band competed in the South Carolina 5A State Marching Band Championships at River Bluff High School! Following an outstanding preliminary performance, the Warrior Band advanced to the State Finals and earned 5th place overall in South Carolina!

The 5A classification represents some of the largest and most competitive marching band programs in South Carolina. Finishing fifth among these outstanding programs is a tremendous achievement and a historic milestone for Indian Land! This is the highest Indian Land Marching Band has ever placed at State in the 3A, 4A, or 5A classifications! Marching band competitions evaluate much more than playing music and marching. Bands are judged in six categories:

  • Music Performance — Ensemble

  • Music Performance — Individual

  • Visual Performance — Ensemble

  • Visual Performance — Individual

  • Overall Effect — Music

  • Overall Effect — Visual

Individual performance judges actually walk on the field while the band performs, evaluating students' musical and visual skills up close. Every student contributes to the success of the entire ensemble!  We have no subs in band!

We could not be prouder of our students! Their hard work, perseverance, self-discipline, passion, and commitment to excellence have brought this program to a new level.

To our students: You have made history! You have shown what is possible when you work together, believe in one another, and commit to something bigger than yourselves. You are building a legacy for every Warrior Band student who comes after you!

To our staff, parents, volunteers, sponsors, administration, and community: THANK YOU! Your dedication, countless hours of service, encouragement, and support make these opportunities possible. This accomplishment belongs to all of you!

WE AREN'T FINISHED YET!                                                                     Although our competitive marching season has come to a close, the Warrior Band has many exciting performances, community service opportunities, and activities ahead!

We are so proud of how far this program has come, but even more excited about where we are going!

Our success is not measured only by trophies and placements. It is measured by the young people we are developing, the leadership skills they are learning, the relationships they are building, and the legacy they will leave behind.
