W.I.N. Update - April 14, 2025

Good afternoon, this is Rick Parker, principal of Indian Land High School, calling with a Sunday Weekly Update. Our theater, choir, and dance students have stolen the show with their Chicago the Musical! The performance has been spectacular showcasing our talented theatrical students! Sofia Bernal, Emma Jordan, Kevin Perry, Thomas Hankinson, and Destiny Endress are stealing the show! Tonight is the final performance at 7 pm. If you have not seen it, I highly recommend it! You want be disappointed! 

Chicago the Musical

Last week in Track Meet, Aubrea Boncore broke the school record by 2 seconds in the 800m. This is only her second time running this event. Below are our top performers. We have a home meet next Wednesday, 4/16 against Fort Mill and Lancaster High School. We would love you all to come out and support the Warriors against our two rivals. GO, WARRIORS!

We will be ending the last week before Spring Break with our Warrior Spirit Week. I have encouraged all students and staff to participate. Here are the daily themes:

Monday -                Adam Sandler Day

Wednesday -          Teacher dress like Student; Student dress like Teacher

Thursday -              Barbecue Dad or Soccer Mom Day

Friday -                   Color War Day

Tomorrow, we will have our We the People Club “Rescheduled” Cultural Fair that was rained out on Friday. Students have purchased wristbands to attend the last part of the day (FLEX & 4th). We will have a variety of food trucks and cultural display booths for students to visit on the Band Pad. It should be fun.

Tuesday, 4/15 and Thursday, 4/17 we will have the WIN Career Readiness testing going on for all Juniors. Make sure they have a charged Chromebook. See testing information below. 

The LCSD Special Olympics was rescheduled for Wednesday, 4/16 due to rain last week. Many of our student club members and staff will be attending this event. 

Thursday, 4/17 our Art Department will have a Juried Art Show Event in the Media Center with 2-D & 3-D categories. Reception 5-6 pm with awards at 5:30 pm.

We will end the week on Friday, 4/18 with the annual Buff Puff Volleyball event in the gymnasium during 4th block. 

 Testing Updates 

 WIN Career Readiness - ALL Juniors are set to take the WIN Career Readiness Test next Tuesday, April 15, or Thursday, April 17.  All Juniors have received their room assignments and should bring their CHARGED Chromebook with their charger to school on their test day (either Tuesday or Thursday) and arrive to the assigned test room after the 9:00 bell.  (Some seniors are involved in WIN Career Readiness testing too.)

AP Testing - Students enrolled in an Advanced Placement class will begin taking their AP Exams soon (May 5-16).  Students have been informed about their test date and their AP Exam materials.  Details about test day will be sent to students soon.  Students, be looking for more information to come to your email!

Don’t Forget! Springtime is coming and did you know about our Agriculture Greenhouse? Our FFA (Future Farmers of America) Organization has it going on! Their Greenhouse is full of plants, hanging baskets, etc. If you like working in the yard or planting a garden, you need to mark your calendar to come shopping at ILHS FFA Plant Sale April 12-15!
