Good afternoon, this is Rick Parker, Principal of Indian Land High School, sending our Sunday Weekly Update. I hope you are having a wonderful Sunday despite the inclement weather we are experiencing. Last week we shined as a staff! Our District Walk-Throughs went extremely well with 25 teachers/administrators visiting ILHS! Thank you to Hannah Merrill, Instructional Coach for coordinating the event and all the teachers and administrators that participated. We received great feedback! Then that same day, we had a well attended Rising 9th Grade Open House and IGP meeting. I was honored to welcome over 500 ninth graders and parents to the upcoming 2025-26 school year! I want to thank everyone who played a major part in making this event a special one! Our Counseling Team, teachers, CTE teachers that showcased their programs, school nurses, attendance clerk, coaches promoting their programs, ROTC, Student Congress ambassadors, student clubs custodial staff, and administrators.
I am so proud of the young men from Indian Land High School, Vinny Amore and Dylan Effran, who have excelled in the fire fighter program at the LCSD Career Center. Planning, preparing, and expecting to WIN in the SkillsUSA Competition demonstrates a Warrior Mindset of willingness to face challenges, armed with resilience, ready to inspire, overcome, rise, and succeed! Choosing a career as a fire fighter is about being a warrior of the people standing on the front line facing Mother Nature. We are so blessed to have Vinny and Dylan serving the heart of a community demonstrating bravery in the truest form!
We also had Xavier Brunet receive Gold in Machine Tools and Bryson Rainey receive third place in Mechatronics.
A big shout out to our Indian Land Winterguard! This weekend the Indian Land Varsity Winter guard won first place in their competition at River Bluff High School!
Congratulations to Coach Bagwell and our Baseball Team! They won the Comporium Baseball Tournament with a 9-2 win championship game against Nations Ford on 3/8!

SC Climate Survey:
This is the last week for the
SC School Climate Survey:
Section 59-18-900 of the Education Accountability Act requiring that annual school report cards include “evaluations of the school by parents, teachers, and students.” Parent perceptions as collected in the Parent Climate Survey appear on our school report card and provide school staff with insight to possible issues within our schools. Additionally, results from the Parent Climate Survey are used by the Education Oversight Committee to meet the requirements of Section 59-28- 190 of the Parental Involvement in Their Children’s Education Act. One parent or guardian of students enrolled in South Carolina public schools may complete one Parent and Guardian survey for each student. There is no restriction on what grade students are enrolled in for this survey; parents or guardians of students in any grade may complete the survey. Please see the W.A.R.R.I.O.R. Mindset Accomplishments so far this 2024-25 school year.
I encourage you if you have not already to complete the Parent Climate Survey to do so by March 21, 2025. See attached instructions for accessing the survey.

From Ms. Bieser – Important Reminders about Usage of Technology
RE: Not seeing students in Classwize:
· There are reports of students using personal Chromebooks and laptops. Verify the number of students in the class against the number that appears on Classwize. If the number is different, please check to see if they are using their school-issued Chromebook. If yes, the student needs to use their assigned school-issued Chromebook and the student should be written up in the Educator's Handbook. Students who are using personal Chromebooks and laptops are in violation of the district policy.
· When the student is using their LCSD Chromebook and you do not see them on Classwize, write up the student in the Educator's Handbook.
Student Personal Devices on campus:
· Dual enrollment students are NOT allowed to be an exception to this policy to complete classes at USCL.
· If students must remain on campus due to transportation, they can take Mr. Parker's class for independent study.
· LCSD computers are not set up to allow outside meetings and classes cannot be attended through a phone, nor can I attend classes while on the ILHS campus.
· Students cannot use their own equipment on the LCSD networks/on the ILHS campus.
Lastly, I leave you with this quote for the week: The best preparation for tomorrow is doing you best for today! It is all about getting 1% better!
Have a great week!
