W.I.N. Update - September 29, 2024

Sunday Weekly Update 9-29-24

Good afternoon, this is Rick Parker, Principal of Indian Land High School, calling with a Sunday Weekly Update. As we begin this week, let’s keep all the people in our thoughts and prayers who lost power, those who experienced flooding in our area, as well as, the towns and families in Western North Carolina. Many have experienced devastating loss and it will take time for them to recovery from the effects of Helene. The Indian Land students and staff are looking to organize some fund raising effort and item collections in support.

I am proud of our JROTC cadets and their results from the Marksmanship Match in Lancaster against (Lewisville HS, Lancaster HS, and Buford HS) Indian Land finished in 3rd place out of seven teams. Our very own Gabriella Carannante won a medal for being the highest marksman for Indian Land HS. Aiden Titus received a medal for scoring the highest among ILHS's new shooters.

Here is What’s Important Now as we “Prepare the Land” for the week ahead!

  • FLEX Time:

The purpose of Flex is extra time built in the schedule to provide PRIORITY small group academic support for any student that is under performing, provide a REQUIRED MASH (Missing Assignment Study Hall), or provide student choice enrichment activities or club time for those who are all caught up and in good academic standing.

  • From the Testing Coordinator:

On Monday, September 30, all students will participate in the Panorama Student Wellness Survey. The Panorama Student Wellness Survey provides insight into student mindsets, engagement, behavior, and feelings. School administrators and counselors will use the survey data to plan ongoing social and emotional learning support at the district, school, and individual levels. A link has been provided for you to review the survey questions.

Lastly, I leave you with this quote for the week ahead, “I always tried to turn every disaster into an opportunity.” John D. Rockefeller. We need to provide H.O.P.E. during this time for those experiencing loss from Hurricane Helene. HOPE taking on the meaning, Helping Other People Excel!
