Win Update - What's Important Now - Sept. 8

Good afternoon, this is Rick Parker, Principal of Indian Land High School, calling with a Sunday Weekly Update. A big shout out to all our football teams and Boy’s Volleyball for their big victories this past week!

Here is What’s Important Now as we “Prepare the Land” for the week ahead!

  • The first grading period ends 9/11. Please keep a check on your student’s grades in Power School.

  • FLEX Time: The purpose of Flex is extra time built in the schedule to provide PRIORITY small group academic support for any student that is under performing, provide a REQUIRED MASH (Missing Assignment Study Hall), or provide student choice activities or club time for those who are all caught up and in good academic standing. Students will watch a video Monday during Flex to show them how to correctly sign up

  • Students are only allowed to miss six days in a class. Missing over six days requires them to complete recovery to earn their grade. Recovery is offered on Tues/Thurs and on designated Saturdays. Times TBA.

  • We have developed a Warrior University for students and parents to learn about important information for each grade level. These monthly sessions lead by our counseling team are designed to help improve our communication and keep you in the loop about opportunities and procedures. Please see the attached link for Monthly seminar sessions.

  • I am proud of our students striving to be OTOT to class. A minute bell will be implemented to provide a signal help improve us even more so all students plan accordingly when walking to class.

  • Please remind your student that lunchtime areas are only the Commons and Courtyard. Students are not allowed to go off campus for lunch or to the parking lot and sit in their cars for lunch. This is a violation and consequences will be provided.

  • LCSD Dress Code: please remind your student that they are not allowed to wear clothes to school that show their mid-drift or sleepwear (pajama pants). If they are addressed they will be asked to change or call home. Repeated offenses will result in a consequence.

  • Important Updates for SENIORS
It’s officially time for you to apply to college. There are a lot of options out there and it can be a little overwhelming. On Tuesday, September 10th, you will have the opportunity to apply to the S.C. colleges of your choice, at no cost, during the annual ILHS College Application Day. This event will be held during the first and second blocks in the ILHS Auxiliary Gym

I leave you with this quote for the week: “You may not always see the results of your kindness, but every bit of positive energy you contribute to the world makes it a better place for all of us.”

Lastly, On Wednesday, 9/11, we honor and remember the 2,996 people that lost their lives at the World Trade Center, the Pentagon, and in Shanksville PA. 23 years after the attack, we still mourn those that lost their lives.

Have a great afternoon!
