Good afternoon, this is Rick Parker, Principal of Indian Land High School, calling with a Monday Weekly Update. Happy Labor Day! Wishing you a day of rest and relaxation as we celebrate the contributions of hard working people like you! A big shout out to our football team for their big victory over Lancaster! After a massive rain storm on Friday that postponed the game, they prevailed Saturday morning winning 35-21. Congrats to Coach Hastings and his coaches! A special thank you to AD Hunter, all volunteers and Booster Club members for making the make up Saturday game a huge success!
Here is What’s Important Now for the week ahead!
Underclassmen pictures will be taken this Wednesday, 9/4. We will be photographing all underclassmen during the second block in the gymnasium.
As we approach the mid quarter, please keep a check on your students grades in Power School.
Any student that has a 69 or below will be required to attend remediation during FLEX session(s).
Students are only allowed to miss six days in a class. Missing over six days requires them to complete recovery to earn their grade.
I am proud of our students striving to be OTOT to class. I will be implementing a minute bell to help improve us even more so all students plan accordingly when walking to class.
Please remind your student that lunchtime areas are only the Commons and Courtyard. Students are not allowed to go off campus for lunch or to the parking lot and sit in their cars for lunch.
Important Updates for SENIORS
Tuesday-Thursday during Flex, the counseling team will be providing a College Essay workshop for seniors getting ready to send in applications- space is limited- sign up in Flex Manager.
Any senior who has not yet signed up for the No-Cost SAT Fall test administration here at school, you still have a few more days. Please let our School Testing Coordinator, Mrs. Stephanie McManus, know by September 4, 2024, so that you can be added to the list of test takers for the October in-school test. Please direct any questions that you may have concerning testing to Mrs. Stephanie McManus, the ILHS Testing Coordinator, at stephanie.mcmanus@lcsd.k12.
Lastly, I leave you with Life Lessons from a Camera:
Focus on what’s important. Capture the good times. Develop from the negatives. Sometimes finding beauty takes a little patience or the right perspective. And when things don’t work out, take another shot!
